HOW TO APPLY / ADMISSION

Application to the School Of Anaesthesia, Ridge is done through the Ministry Of Health’s Training Institution’s forms, which is normally sold from January to April every year. The forms are online and you will have to buy a scratch card from any MOH training institution.
You apply online using the unique ID number on the scratch card. After application, you will be called for an interview, which is usually done in May or June of the same year. Based on your performance during the interview you are selected / offered an admission into the school.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates suitable for admission into the BSc. Anaesthesia programme shall obtain the following:

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination and Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE/SSCE) this category of applicants will enter at level 100.
  • SSSCE: the candidate must have credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects with an overall aggregate of 24 or better. Three of the six (6) subjects must be core subjects (including English language, mathematics and integrated science)
  • WASSCE: the candidate must have credit passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects with an overall aggregate of 36 or better. Three of the six (6) subjects must be core subjects (including English language, mathematics and integrated science)

This category of students should have passed at least three (3) elective subjects in General Science, Preferably, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Elective Mathematics.

 

Diploma in Midwifery/Diploma in Mental Health. This category of students will enter at level 200.

 

Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution. This category of students will enter at level 300

  • Nursing
  • Diploma in Nursing with at least two (2) years working experience
  • Physician Assistant (Medical)

 

Certificate/Diploma in Nurse Anaesthesia from a recognised institution. This category of students will enter as Sandwich students to do a Top Up to obtain the BSc Anaesthesia.

Show proof of sponsorship and/or ability to support self during the course.

Be required to undergo medical examinations within two (2) weeks of the commencement of the course. This will be carried out by a Medical Officer appointed by the programme. The cost of which will be borne by the sponsor and/or student. Candidates who are found to have medical conditions that may not enable them undertake the programme may be withdrawn.
