  • Welcome to the School of Anaesthesia, Ridge's Website. The School of Anaesthesia was established in 2009 as a result of shortage of Anaesthetist in the Greater Accra Region and the country as a whole. It was established to reduce this deficiency in the health sector as a whole.
    The school is situated at the Ridge Regional Hospital, Accra. This is the third of its kind in Ghana following that of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi and the 37 Military Hospital, Accra.
    In line with our mandate of training competent, motivated, skilled and well resourced Non-Physician Anaesthetists who will provide safe Anaesthesia in health institutions for improved health care in Ghana, we aim to collaborate with all our partners and key stakeholders to ensure high quality health care to our clients and patients.
    The aim of this website is to provide the general population with information about the school as well as current and upcoming events of the school.

  • Admission  Overview

    Annual admissions are under the authority of the Director  of the School and Ministry of Health, Ghana to advertise for qualified candidates to apply for admission into the school. The authority granted covers all procedures for selecting prospective anaesthetist students.

    Requirements

    Candidates for the course must be a qualified and registered Nurse (RGN) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.Applicants must provide proof of clinical practice (experience) of two years which must be immediately preceding the application for the course.All candidates admitted will be required to undergo medical examinations within two (2) weeks of the commencement of the course. This will be carried out by a Medical Officer appointed by the programme, the cost of which will be borne by the sponsor and/or student.Candidates who are found to have medical conditions that may not enable them undertake the programme may be withdrawn.
